THE STORY BEHIND "SLAY"
Forging Armor from the Shards
"SLAY" was born in the crossfire of criticism and doubt. In an industry that constantly dictates who an artist should be, how loud a queer creator can stand, and where boundaries lie, Kara Zmatiq faced the age-old pressure to shrink, conform, or fold entirely.
Instead, Kara fought back.
"SLAY" is an unfiltered rejection of quiet compliance. Moving away from polished studio pop into an unapologetic, guitar-driven pop-rock and industrial club hybrid, the track captures the exact moment an underdog decides to stop defending their existence and starts dominating the room.
The core philosophy of the song hinges on transformation: taking the harsh words, dismissals, and low blows from critics and turning that negative energy into indestructible fuel. Every insult becomes an edge; every setback becomes another piece of armour. Through raw, powerhouse live vocals and relentless live-band grit, "SLAY" proves that when voices attempt to shatter your spirit, you don't sweep away the mess, you reflect the blinding light right back into their eyes and own the ride.
The Visual Universe: Subterranean Grunge & Shattered Glass
The visual campaign for "SLAY" steps away from sterile glamour into the damp, high-contrast grit of an industrial space-age warehouse.
The Mirror Armour: Center stage stands Kara Zmatiq in a sculptural, architectural corset constructed entirely from geometric mirrored shards and spikes. Reflecting strobe beams in every direction, it represents defensive armour crafted from the very things meant to break her.
The Shattered Glass Motifs: Symbolising the breaking point where silence ends, massive panes of structural glass rupture into slow-motion vortexes throughout the visual narrative, refracting neon pinks and industrial blues across wet concrete floors.

LYRICS

Verse 1
They said I'm not enough
Shadows in the rough
Told me I should quit guess
What I've had enough
Glitz and glam they shine
Try to dim my light
Thought I'd fall from grace
But now I rise and fight
Pre-Chorus
Stand up feel my pride
Can't hide, won't hide
Voices try to break me
Now I own the ride
Chorus
Watch me slay slay bitch
I'm on fire won't switch
Turn their hate to gold
I'm fierce, brave and bold
Verse 2
Every time I fell
Every empty shell
Built my armour strong
I'm a queen can't you tell?
Pre-Chorus
Stand up feel my pride
Can't hide, won't hide
Voices try to break me
Now I own the ride
Chorus
Watch me slay slay bitch
I'm on fire won't switch
Turn their hate to gold
I'm fierce, brave and bold
Chorus
Slay slay bitch
I'm on fire won't switch
Turn their hate to gold
I'm fierce, brave and bold
Bridge
